A Birthday at the Foz do Iguaçu

Annual Maple Bear conventions in Brazil meant birthday celebrations in South American destinations every May 23^rd. 

Tango show in Buenos Aires.  Check. 

Panama Canal. Check.

Machu Picchu. Check. 

Cartagena, Colombia. Check.

Finally, it was time for the Iguazu waterfalls on the Brazil side. The breathtaking UNESCO Heritage site is a wonder of the world, straddling the Brazil-Argentina border. It leaves visitors speechless, even me.

Much to her delight, we asked official Maple Bear videographer Jenn Lee to join us. 

I was a falls virgin, a rare Canadian to never have seen Niagara Falls. Rodney always gushed about Victoria Falls in southern Africa but neither have bragging rights to 275 individual cascades over a 2.5-kilometer stretch.

Spray was a challenge but easily solved with fashionable plastic bags. I managed to tidy myself up for Jenn’s official birthday portrait of us.
