Glamping in the Maasai Mara, Kenya

Where a Bear Took Us Cover

New locations for Maple Bear were scouted. And, research of Nairobi preschool market conducted, albeit using harmless subterfuge. Raj played our son-in-law while our other partner wondered aloud: Who am I supposed to be?

“Uncle Saurabh”, we told him.

After passing by the Westgate Mall, I foolishly downloaded Terror at the Mall. Horrific nightmares ensued.

Surreal dinner on the Hotel Kempinski roof. Mustafa, potential Tanzanian franchisee, asked questions while Turkish food appeared on heaping platters. Belly dancers glided by.

A tiny plane into the Maasai Mara the following morning. Safari time.

“Jambo Jambo!” the room attendant shouted in Swahili at a Fairmont resort. Bwana’s dirty running shoes disappeared. They re-appeared later at our ‘tent’, better than new.

Elephants eyeballed us when our jeep broke down crossing a river. Bwana’s wife composed farewell letters while we waited.

Wait, is that a rhino in my selfie?
