Meat coma in Mendoza, Argentina
February 11, 2025

A visit to Eva Peron’s grave. A tango show over dinner. Picturesque views of the magnificent Andes. Meh.
Nothing could ever hold a candle to our memories of Argentinian beef.

We flew to Buenos Aires from Brazil and soon after, headed to Mendoza for wine-tasting. Driving near Tupungato, a wine region several hours away, we accidently stumbled upon a vineyard with a restaurant.

An incredibly huge slab of red meat was soon placed before us. (12 ounces? 16 ounces? Who knew? Who cared?)
Meat rapture followed.

Turned out credit cards weren’t accepted.
“Where are you staying in Mendoza?” asked the proprietor.
We told him.
“Lunch can be charged to your room,” he said, explaining an arrangement with the Sheraton. “Unless you want to pay cash?”
How much for our three delicious courses, with a bottle of nice wine?
$75 Canadian dollars.
Worth every bite. And the sleepless night too.
